All the buildings at Cabana Desolation Eco Resort were designed and handcrafted to utilize local wood and materials. This creates a simple, rich ambiance while immersing our guests in the natural environment.
At Cabana Desolation, nature surrounds us. The open dining structure allows the sights, sounds, and smells of the rainforest and the ocean to be continuously present.
The handcrafted post and beam design is primarily a place to enjoy wonderful foods created from scratch by our talented staff. However, it is also a relaxed place to chill and immerse with a good book or converse over a glass of wine.
One distinguishing feature of the dining structure – six unique and knotted trunks that support the roof of the cafe – were all sourced onsite from fallen cedars and hauled into place by hand during construction. Meanwhile, the wooden bar with views of the ocean through the forest is perfect for enjoying a refreshing beverage or afternoon tapas.

Our staff work tirelessly and enthusiastically every minute of the day to reflect this relaxed and comfortable environment. Their commitment to service ensures all your physical needs are met in a friendly, knowledgable and relatable way.
Unlike other typical resort environments, Cabana Desolation has a maximum occupancy of just 10 guests at a time. This naturally produces a far more intimate and inclusive atmosphere amongst guests.
This exclusivity also means that our guests have more time to get to know the people – i.e. the staff – that live and work here year round to provide you with all you need to enjoy your time in our beautiful corner of the world.
Many of our guests, as a result, are pleasantly surprised with the congenial and friendly atmosphere that surrounds Cabana Desolation. They feel that they leave here not simply refreshed and rejuvenated, but with new stories, new adventures, and new friends.
